Modeling Distribution System Resiliency
An existing hydraulic model for the city was updated to include configuration changes and new projects. Hypothetical scenarios to test system resiliency in the event of water main failure were created and extended period simulations run. Results were used to make an informed decision regarding project priortization. Johnson City has two water plants, allowing for a trace to be run in the hydraulic model to find water mixing boundaries and predict the amount of water from each plant reachinng customers.
